Norwegian Fjords

Included here are some of the first rolls of film I ever shot. Not knowing much about film stocks at the time, I picked up ColorPlus 200 because it was easy to find (and the most affordable). I brought four rolls on this three-week trip, unsure how much I’d need, and quickly realized how picky I’d have to be with each frame to make them last.

That all changed when we reached Gamle Strynefjellsvegen.

If you know me at all, you know I love a surprise. Big or small, I experience a child-like glee when I feel like I’ve stumbled on something worth holding onto. On this stretch of road, my patient partner pulled over every few minutes so I could clumsily scramble across the road, camera in hand, hoping to get a shot before another car came through. I let myself take only one picture at each stop, trying to stretch the roll as far as possible.

Norway remains one of my favorite countries, and I hope these photos help show why.
